Yes, it’s sad to say, but the strawberry season 2008 is winding down. However, we do still have plenty of berries to fill your boxes! Late season berries tend to be smaller and are great for freezing, jam making, or just a great snack!
Be sure to call our Farmer Jones Crop Report Line for information on our picking locations, box special prices, directions, hours of operation and more. You can listen to Farmer Jones’ daily updates by calling 203-929-8425.
Many people wonder if we are open during these spot rain showers that we’ve been experiencing on, what seems like, a daily basis here in the North East. Yes we are! Fog, rain, heat, humidity, etc. – we’re here for you.
Of course, we really can’t complain about the weather this season. More times than not, we’ve had beautiful skies above and lovely breezes blowing on by. There’s something invigorating about standing in one of our strawberry fields while a warm summer wind blows across the back of your neck and the air is filled with the scent of sweet summer strawberries.
We’re only a few weeks away from blueberry season! Mid-July usually ushers in the little round berries of blue. They are busy getting ripe for you and from Mid-July into August we’ll be open for blueberry retail. The Farmer Jones crop report will keep you abreast of the blueberry info too!
Finally, what’s better than a cool refreshing glass of Harvest Time wine or Strawberry Serenade on a hot summer day? Haven’t tried it yet? Head on over to our Historic Main Farm and the Jones Winery tasting room and outdoor tasting tent Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am – 5pm. Even the rainbows point you in the right direction to the Winery.
Enjoy your 4th of July holiday folks! And yes, we’re open on the 4th too! 8am – 12pm.
See you all in the fields! -Keith
